In late July, three of our students, Jonathan Bruhl, Jess Hughes and David Tan attended the Regional Youth Orchestra workshop in Sydney. It was a fabulous time working on "Scheherazade" - Rimsky Korsakov, 1st and 2nd movements, and culminated in an open rehearsal for the public. Students from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music tutored the sections, resulting in a valuable learning time for everyone.
As leaders of their sections, David Tan (2nd violins) and Jonathan Bruhl (Violas) joined with Sophie Hoskins-Murphy (1st violins, from Orange) and Australian World Orchestra cellist, Peter Morrison, to rehearse "Mozart's Divertimento for String Quartet, K138".
The quartet then performed the 2nd and 3rd movements of this work at the Australian World Orchestra’s “Chamber 8 Concert” at Angel Place on Tuesday evening, July 25th. The performance was exceptional, and our students came away from this extraordinary opportunity feeling very fortunate to have worked so closely with some of Australia’s leading musicians.
