Family and friends of the NECOM Foundation Music Program have enjoyed listening to our young musicians of the future perform at the annual series of solo recitals held over the last three weeks of Term 3. Over 60 students participated in the concert aimed at those in the early years of learning stringed, woodwind and brass instruments.
Performance opportunities like this provide the younger students with the experience of preparing for and playing in a formal concert setting. This includes wearing concert dress and learning correct concert etiquette, like bowing to the audience and accompanist. All the performers rose to the occasion and are to be congratulated on their fantastic performances.
Thank you to our teachers Laura Curotta, Robert Jackson, April Kelson, Joanna Fairs-Wu, Louisa Sindell-Marshall, Paul Marshall and Kristal Spreadborough who all work expertly with these budding musicians. It was interesting to see and hear the many different types of repertoire presented reflecting how much care is taken by our NECOM teachers to choose repertoire that suits the individual.
